Several years ago, a group of women from the San Diego Foundation for Women started meeting once a month to sing songs from a variety of spiritual traditions. We called it “Singing for the Soul,” and invited everyone, whether they could sing well or not. Remembering what some of us learned as children, that “singing is praying twice,” we started each session by calling in the spirits of our loved ones and consciously directing the healing energy of our music. The group, which we lightly refer to as the Gnostic Gospel Choir, has grown in intimacy and has become a primary support and spiritual community for many of us.

We made this CD so that others of you can call a circle, light your candles, and sing along. None of us are professional singers and we have worked hard to get over our “need to be perfect.”  It’s our love and joy we hope you pick up here. The songs are short and easy to remember, so you don’t need papers and you don’t need light. It’s our hope that your singing circles grow, and that your songs, prayers and healing energies reach around the world.
